Today Hereke rugs are woven in the area of Izmit Bay and in the town of Hereke. These rugs are known as the finest rugs in the world. Hereke rugs were first seen in the second half of the 19 th century. These world- famous rugs carry on the tradition of "Palace Rugs"; they are woven with 100% pure silk and they have a very short pile. These rugs are very much in demand around the world.

As these rugs are not woven with only a few characteristic colors, it is possible to find almost any color you can imagine. This extensive variety of colors give the rugs a very special beauty and richness.

The designs used in these rugs reflect the many stages of the Turkish rug-weaving art. Numerous compositions display pictures of flowers such as carnations, roses and tulips; one can also find palm leaves, twisted branches and leaves with veins, all of which were used in the "Palace Art" rugs.

Generally, they are woven in various sizes, but small sizes can be found more easily.

Some of the sizes are;
40*60, 60*90, 90*130, 120*180, 150*225, 200*300 centimeters.

MATERIAL: Weft, warp and pile are 100% silk
